Configure your Kitchen Display

Route orders to stations with clarity and timing.

Last updated 18 May 2026

Overview

A Kitchen Display System (KDS) in KorePOS Pro routes tickets from the POS to the right prep stations — grill, cold, bar, or pastry — so your team sees only what they need to fire. Clear routing reduces missed items during busy service and replaces paper chits with timed, bumpable tickets. This guide covers adding displays, assigning categories, and validating routing with a test order.

Before you begin

  • KorePOS Pro subscription for the location
  • At least one tablet or dedicated screen on the same network as your POS
  • Menu categories already set up in KorePOS (e.g. Mains, Starters, Drinks)
  • Manager access to Kitchen settings

Step-by-step

  1. Add a kitchen display

From KorePOS Pro on your main device, open Kitchen → Displays and tap Add display. Name each screen by station — for example Grill 1 or Cold Prep — so staff know where to look. Install the KorePOS kitchen app or open the kitchen URL on the display device and sign in with a kitchen role PIN.

  2. Assign order categories

For each display, select which menu categories route to that screen. A grill station might receive Burgers and Mains while the bar display receives Drinks only. Items can appear on multiple displays if your workflow requires it. Save changes before service starts so tickets do not split incorrectly mid-shift.

  3. Configure timing and bump shortcuts

Set ticket hold times if you want courses fired together, and enable bump bar or on-screen bump actions your team prefers. Colour cues for overdue tickets help during peak hours. Test with a low-volume period first so staff learn the flow without pressure.

  4. Send a test order

Create a test table or quick sale from the POS with items in each assigned category. Confirm tickets appear on the correct displays within a few seconds. Bump tickets through to completion and verify they clear from all screens. Adjust category mapping if any item routes to the wrong station.

Troubleshooting

Tickets not appearing on KDS
Check the kitchen device is online, signed in to the correct location, and category assignments include the items you sold. Restart the kitchen app and resend a test order.
Duplicate tickets on multiple screens
Review category assignments — overlapping categories on every display will duplicate tickets. Narrow each display to the categories that station actually prepares.
Tickets stuck after bump
Force refresh the kitchen display, confirm POS and KDS are on the same app version, and contact support if tickets persist more than 60 seconds after bump.
