Enable Tap to Pay on iPhone

Accept contactless payments with no extra hardware.

Overview

Tap to Pay on iPhone turns a compatible iPhone into a contactless terminal using the KorePOS app. It is ideal for food trucks, pop-ups, and counter service where you want card acceptance without leasing hardware. After verification with your payment provider, you can take Apple Pay, Google Pay, and contactless cards directly on your phone.

Before you begin

  • KorePOS Lite or KorePOS Pro with payments activated
  • iPhone XS or later running the latest iOS version supported by KorePOS
  • Latest KorePOS app from the App Store
  • Completed business verification with your payment provider

Step-by-step

  1. Update the KorePOS app

    Install the latest KorePOS release from the App Store. Tap to Pay requires recent app and iOS builds for security and certification. Sign in with the account that has payment permissions for your location.

  2. Open Tap to Pay settings

    Navigate to Payments → Tap to Pay in the app menu. If the option is greyed out, your account may still be in verification — check your email for provider requests or contact support@korepos.co.uk.

  3. Complete provider verification

    Follow the in-app prompts to accept your payment provider terms and confirm your business details. You may need to re-enter your company registration information or upload documents. Verification usually completes within one business day for UK merchants.

  4. Activate with a test payment

    Take a live payment under £1 using a contactless card or wallet. Hold the card near the top of your iPhone until you feel a successful read. Confirm the payment in your KorePOS inbox and settlement report. You can refund the test from the payment detail screen if needed.

Troubleshooting

Tap to Pay option not visible
Confirm you are on KorePOS Lite or Pro with an approved payments profile and an eligible iPhone model. Android devices use Tap to Pay on Android — check Payments → Tap to Pay for device-specific steps.
Card read fails repeatedly
Remove thick phone cases, enable NFC, and ensure you are not in a low-connectivity area during authorisation. Retry after restarting the KorePOS app.
Verification stuck pending
Check spam folders for provider emails, ensure business details match your Companies House registration, and email support@korepos.co.uk with your merchant reference.
