Overview
Pairing a Viva-compatible payment terminal lets you take card-present payments from KorePOS Lite or KorePOS Pro without re-entering amounts on a separate device. The terminal and your KorePOS app stay in sync so totals, tips, and receipts match every transaction. This guide walks through pairing from a clean setup and verifying the connection with a small test payment.
Before you begin
- An active KorePOS Lite or KorePOS Pro account with payments enabled
- A Viva-compatible terminal powered on and connected to Wi‑Fi or Ethernet
- Admin or manager permissions in KorePOS Settings
- Your terminal’s pairing code visible on its display
Step-by-step
Open terminal settings in KorePOS
On your tablet or phone, sign in to KorePOS and go to Settings → Hardware → Terminals. This screen lists any terminals already linked to your location. If you are pairing your first device, the list will be empty until you complete the steps below.
Start pairing
Tap Pair new terminal. KorePOS will search for nearby terminals on the same network. If prompted, allow local network access on iOS or Android so the app can discover the device. Keep the terminal on the pairing screen — do not put it to sleep during this step.
Enter the pairing code
When your terminal displays a numeric pairing code, enter it exactly as shown in KorePOS. Codes are time-limited; if it expires, tap Regenerate on the terminal and try again. Once accepted, the terminal appears in your list with a Connected status.
Run a verification payment
Process a £0.01 test sale from the POS or Lite collection screen and confirm the terminal prompts for card presentation. Check that the receipt appears in KorePOS and in your payments inbox. Void or refund the test if your provider allows it. If the test fails, see troubleshooting below before going live.
Troubleshooting
- Terminal not found during pairing
- Confirm both devices share the same network, disable guest Wi‑Fi isolation on your router, and reboot the terminal. Retry pairing from Settings → Hardware → Terminals.
- Pairing code rejected
- Regenerate the code on the terminal, ensure no other location is pairing the same device, and verify your KorePOS account has an active payments profile.
- Test payment declines or times out
- Check your merchant account status with your payment provider, confirm the terminal firmware is up to date, and contact support@korepos.co.uk with your location ID and terminal serial number.
